The Lottery

The Lottery

In my opinion the story is mainly about lottery which caused me to make a firm idea of the title. I would call this story “The lottery” not only because it is about the lottery but in this case the lottery carries contrary meaning of it. There are two things which made me to think the lottery in this city represents death and sorrow instead of winning a big sum of money. One of them is Tessie Hutchinson strongly crying for redo about the result that her husband was the winner for this lottery. Another one is when a child named Tessie gets the hit by the stone on the side of the head which shows she will die. Before I get chance to read the ending part, I thought about what is the connection between the piles of stones and the lottery. I have thought several possibilities, and my guess was that the piles of stones will be the prize for the winner of the lottery. However, as we keep reading to the end, I found little suspicious. As the lottery time comes, I could see people were getting nervous. And in about few sentences later, when the winner was chosen, the wife of the winner was desperately crying for redo of this lottery by protesting that her husband didn’t get much time to choose the card from the lottery. At this point what came through my mind was that the stones were not just a prize for the winner it was to through at the winner. When the end was left out as a mystery I was very angry with the author of this writing because the story just left me just in the middle of the desert! When the mystery paper was given to me, I knew it was the ending part of this writing. Because I really wanted to know the ending story, without hesitating I just tore off the entry of this envelop and started reading the ending story. I almost had no clue about the black box that we had to choose one card from the box. But it just gave the tension and pressure while picking up the card. Because I was the first one who had to pick the card, extra pressure was upon me. So, basically I felt very strange about the black box, black spot and blank paper. Just one thing that I was clear about them was black spot represented a bad thing and blank paper represented nothing which means “safe” As soon as I read the end of the story, instead of the joy that I got the ending story right, I felt very frustrated since I hate killing children. Eventually, my guess was right and when I found out that the child was the one who will get tons of shots of stones, I felt very sorry for this young girl although it was not a true story. I think the author left these voids in the story in order to create more tension and take the reader think deeper and predict the story. Another reason why the author left voids were to make the story more interesting and to keep the reader keeps reading. From the beginning this story was different than other writings I have saw from last 15 years. It had no title and author information. From the very beginning the author created the void which made me to keep reading. No ending totally left me out in the desert because it only left me some clues and not the actual story. Text clues and foreshadowing made me little infuriating because it still didn’t confirm the real story. When the mystery paper was handed to me I felt very uncomfortable keeping it in my pocket and this feeling made me to find out the answer. When I got time to read the delayed ending the power of the void was no more in my mind which means I felt no more uncomfortable. In short, I realized the true power of void and what it creates whoever it is like listener or reader. If I get some free time I hope to create anything that creates THE POWER OF VOID.

School Of Athens - by Raphael

Art can mirror the society of the Renaissance period because it shows how people lived and what they did during the day at school. This painting was drawn by Raphael during the Renaissance. This picture undoubtedly shows knowledge because it is a painting representing a school. Within this artwork, there are two sides of thinking; the logical thinking and the scientific thinking. This painting also uses a lot of artistic techniques that were developed during the Renaissance such as vanishing point, anatomical accuracy, focal point, proportion, perspective and foreshortening. Most of the people in the painting are wearing tunics and robes representing the clothes of the Renaissance period. This painting, “The School of Athens” by Raphael manifests various elements that were mainly from the Renaissance.

If I were part of the painting??

If I were part of the painting 'The School of Athens' I would be one of the students who is getting education and doing experiment with Archimedes at the right bottom corner. In this painting, he is sitting right next to the experiment looking very excited about the science experiment. Like the student, I like science especially experiment and like to learn something new that I didn't know before. Furthermore, I don't know whether this student share the new discoveries from the experiment I like to share them with others and get some new thoughts and variety opinions about the experiment. This student doesn't show any other traits or characteristics but I can see that he is one of the most intelligent apprentices of Archimedes. This is one of the reason I chose him, too. When someone teaches something very impressive and stunning news and discoveries I respect them a lot and want to serve as my true teacher. Ultimately, I hope as I study on everything not only science and pay close attention that I don't know, I believe someday somewhere in my life I will be able to taste the true success.

Being audience is the best

If I were to be a part of the painting I would like to be one of the audiences standing at the backside of Jesus. This is because I neither like to be too famous and outstanding nor such poor people as servant. Living too wealthy is sometimes very dangerous due to thievery and assassination, and living a poor life has no respect from other people and there would be no fun in life. Therefore, I want to live life very peacefully and steady until I die. Another reason why I chose the audience is because I don’t want to be the one who is involved in such big situation as Pilate. For example, in airport, when a strange person approaches to me saying, “Can you hold this for me?” or “Could you put this into your bag because my stuffs are overloaded?” I would ignore right away and don’t even look back because I don’t know what is inside that stuff. (This is common sense that should never accept that kind of request, especially in airport because you can be put to death if it is a drug.) Ultimately, in my opinion, being not too outstanding and being normal is the best idea because in some cases being outstanding is not good and comfortable.

Leonardo Da Vinci the true Renaissance Man

Leonardo da Vinci was a true renaissance man. He was born in the Renaissance age and he was incredibly genius who is not likely to be seemed again in the world. Also, he was not like the others. According to the history, it says that in the school, he asked every single question that he didn’t know and the teacher got really frustrated. As he got older, he was widely known as an inventor, architect, painter and engineer. So, in Renaissance time, he was the one of the people who really worked hard on developing the Italy. He drew six famous drawings including portraits military machines and etc. Also, he dissected dead people’s body in order to draw human proportionally and realistically.

PATIENCE is bitter, but its fruit is sweet

Patience (Guns N' Roses song)

Shed a tear 'cause I'm missin' you
I'm still alright to smile
Girl, I think about you every day now
Was a time when I wasn't sure
But you set my mind at ease
There is no doubt
You're in my heart now

Said, woman, take it slow
It'll work itself out fine
All we need is just a little patience
Said, sugar, make it slow
And we come together fine
All we need is just a little patience
(patience)
Mm, yeah

I sit here on the stairs
'Cause I'd rather be alone
If I can't have you right now
I'll wait, dear
Sometimes I get so tense
But I can't speed up the time
But you know, love
There's one more thing to consider

Said, woman, take it slow
And things will be just fine
You and I'll just use a little patience
Said, sugar, take the time
'Cause the lights are shining bright
You and I've got what it takes
To make it, We won't fake it,
I'll never break it
'cause I can't take it

(whistle)
...little patience, mm yeah, mm yeah
need a little patience, yeah
just a little patience, yeah
some more patience, yeah
need some patience, yeah
could use some patience, yeah
gotta have some patience, yeah
all it takes is patience,
just a little patience
is all you need *

I BEEN WALKIN' THE STREETS AT NIGHT
JUST TRYIN' TO GET IT RIGHT
HARD TO SEE WITH SO MANY AROUND
YOU KNOW I DON'T LIKE
BEING STUCK IN THE CROWD
AND THE STREETS DON'T CHANGE
BUT BABY THE NAME
I AIN'T GOT TIME FOR THE GAME
'CAUSE I NEED YOU
YEAH, YEAH, BUT I NEED YOU
OO, I NEED YOU
WHOA, I NEED YOU
OO, ALL THIS TIME **
(ah)

The song "Patience" is a song by the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, and is bascially about a guy waiting for his ex girlfriend to come back to him. This famous song tries to convey and idea of patience. As what the singer is trying to tell the listener, with little amount of tolerance and patience, can lead you to better feeling and calms you down a little bit although you feel bad about something. Lots of people actually think alcohol or drinks can prevent any heartbreaking news, but I really do agree with the singer and lyric maker because the best way to get rid of or feel more comfortable from the sorrowful circumstances is being little bit more patient and giving more time to oneself to think about them. Ultimately, the one way you can accomplish your dream and discover one's own strength is being patient everytime when faces tough obstacles. Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.

Without Patience, nothing is successful

Auguste Rodin:Thinking Man

Patience sits in a stool, waiting for her turn, though not quiet as I wait.
Adorned with tolerance and abundant in persistence,
He says, “I’m waiting for you forever”

In the Alchemist, Santiago faces numerous obstacles in his journey and overcome them to pursue his destiny. In most of difficult situation, Santiago is required to be patient, which means wait until the right time come. From beginning to the end of his journey, without patience he would have abandoned his dream whenever he faced harsh on his journey. However, he got over all of the tough obstacles, and he could finally achieve his destiny. As an evidence, when he got rubbed after only a few days he started off his journey, he did not give up. He decided to work in a small crystal shop for about a year and retrieve all of his possession, which shows his great patience. Ultimately, this experience become a good start off of his journey, which leads to success. In short, without patience, everyone can not accomplish or success in any works they do.
